Verbs

“I live on Earth at present, and I don’t know what I am. I know that I am not a category. I am not a thing — a noun. I seem to be a verb, an evolutionary process – an integral function of the universe.”; “I am convinced that creativity is a priori to the integrity of the universe and that life is regenerative and conformity meaningless.”

- Richard Buckminster Fuller

It is hard to explain going off the map to people. Off-grid, where the accepted networks that interlace are momentarily forgotten. Of course they are intrinsic to reality; anything that has been invented by humanity finds a certain confluence with nature. But what we sometimes fail to realize is that these concepts and abbreviations of what is actually happening are subsidiary, and that it takes significant effort to go under the appearance and loosen further meaning. Sometimes this is involuntary. It is incredible that we consider ourselves personalities, a particular kind of noun that does not constantly move. The fact that we are subsumed in a constant intersection of personalities ought to make us understand that personality itself is fleeting and a process which we ourselves act upon but which others, the environment that surrounds us, and even that invisible aspect (consider the invisibility of motion); we are living under a misconception and our idea of permanence is a strange consolation to remove us from the apparent tragedy of change.

And it strikes me that I am writing yet again from an unknown source and that certain ideas that have recently entered my thoughts have taken shape regardless of what was prior. The ideas themselves though- the new ideas- find a new form, and new definitions in my particular consciousness, and this leads to a strange recognition of dependence and inherent flux. But what is frightening about this motion. What is so intimidating about the possibility that the universe is a perpetual motion machine, and that the lines that intersect are brought there perhaps through violence but eventually crystallize into a certain symmetry and pattern. The pattern evolves and becomes more complex, and it is held in place by subtleties which force us to look beyond the superficial constructs which have been set in place. What could be more enlivening, and what could force us to look at current threats of power and crystallization of control as passing in the wider spectrum. The consolation of an ever expanding universe with ever-revealing patterns of conduct is perhaps not a gift, but rather is.

It is sublime. The fact that our species tends towards relationships and passionate discourse, regardless of the definitions encompassing those relationships and dialogue is comfort in itself. That the natural tendency is not towards destruction but towards regeneration and eventual understanding is consolation. After reading Nietzsche I compared the infamous philosopher with Socrates and realized that Socrates encompassed a certain detachment and his students Plato and Aristotle were more concerned with moral types and frameworks than they were with perceiving patterns and consistencies in reality. The fact that historians since have developed theories centered on human-based realities explains why we cannot sufficiently understand complexity. They disregard the occupied environments and the fact that relationships are not guided alone by individuals or the language they use, but rather the realities that they have been trying to explain, which they cannot do sufficiently because of the striking attachment to solid structures which are trying to dissolve themselves.

And we question human violence but it does not seem to be caused particularly by actual formative anger; rather it is caused by the pace of development or a certain alienation caused by border of separate development. Speed, as philosopher Paul Virilio suggests, creates a hyper reality which causes dissonance with original human needs, and the linear frameworks (especially that of time) create a tension which separates us and causes the misunderstanding that we are not co-dependent. The absurdity of violence is the absurdity of not appreciating natural time. That is, no time. Time simply designate another aspect of space which is less tangible, and there are almost certainly further realities which would take more discovery that would cause even more acute misunderstanding. The limitations set upon us are there because if we could go any quicker we would surely not be able to broach the understanding that there is no individual, only the whole.

And this is not the only reality, only one of the simplest. It seems like a staging post sometimes where people's passions and egotism runs rampant. And all these terms seem meaningless when put into perspective: anger, greed, violence, etc. etc. If we could conceive of the violence of pro-creation, of becoming. The extraordinary complexity of what surrounds us; we are merely experiencing a partial insight. Because we take life so seriously. No, because we take ourselves so seriously. I do not mean to say that life is valuable; I mean to say it is invaluable. In the space that surrounds us we find ourselves  conscious and perceiving yet we take particular identity and we call it unique. We take the current generation and we exhaust its attention by telling every one, individually, that they are separate, and that they must look towards their own future. It's all out of perspective, after all.
